	STATION 8-1 (HQ)	The Fire Department provides fire prevention, suppression and other emergency services to the Town of Richmond Hill. The Fire Department responds to a variety of calls including fires, medical assistance, rescue, auto extrication, public assistance, spills and release of materials hazardous to the environment. Fire prevention staff conduct inspections on institutional, industrial and commercial buildings during construction and after occupancy to ensure fire safety standards are met. The department also provides public tours, demonstrations and training lectures that emphasize fire safety. Fire training staff instruct all new recruits, conduct entrance and promotion examinations and contribute to the continuing development of all fire department staff.
